Our Safari

When someone tells you they are going on safari the word conjures up images of Africa, setting out in search of the BIG FIVE but in Swahili (a language I'm very keen to learn) Safari means Journey therefore any trip we take in life is a safari no matter where we go. from now on when i talk about our travels in Africa i shall refer to it as our Safari.
Another interesting fact it that the BIG FIVE all safari goer's aim to find (Lion, African elephant, cape buffalo, leopard and both the black and white rhino) are not actually named as the best animals to see rather it is a term coined by big game hunters referring to the five most difficult animals to hunt on foot a fact that is some what depressing.

As i said before i am very keen to learn Swahili here are a few simple words i've learnt so far...
Hello: Hujambo (although more commonly used when speaking to tourists is Jambo)
I'm fine: Sijambo
Excuse me: Samahani
Thank you: Asante...
